The owners of this new home in a development on Burke Mountain in Coquitlam sought to improve the home’s landscaping and backyard entertainment space. The work began with excavation and replacement of the poorly-draining backyard soil. For the patio area, water and electricity lines were run underground to the outdoor kitchen, and inset patio lights were placed around the perimeter prior to pouring a concrete slab. This foundation served as a solid base to lay huge porcelain tiles with border accents, and to construct a beautiful cooking area with custom stainless steel backsplash wall, Napoleon grill and accessory cabinets including beverage fridge.
Beyond the patio, a level grass yard was placed with integrated irrigation, and at the rear of the lot raised beds were built of locking blocks, to form a large vegetable garden.
