A young family purchased this late ‘60s “Special” in Deep Cove – together with another family who took the ground floor suite – and brought Maestro in to thoughtfully open up the living space, optimize the kitchen function and modernize the interiors.
The goal was to create a “great room” by removing dividing walls separating the kitchen, dining and living rooms. Wide-plank distressed hardwood flooring was installed to unify the space underfoot, and the addition of skylights brightly lit the new expansive room.
Existing features such as cedar wall paneling, cabinets and built-ins were updated rather than replaced to maximize value. In the kitchen, a simple rearranging of cabinets in the newly opened-up space allowed for an efficient layout, while a modern repaint and unique island added the finishing touches to this modernized home.
