The interior of this Craftsman Bungalow house in East Vancouver was extensively remodeled to improve the structural stability, open up key living spaces for entertainment, and revitalize a second suite.
The front entry was dramatically expanded upwards and accented with new skylights and windows, allowing light to pour into the home and create a welcoming space.
The focus of the renovation was the kitchen - every modern home’s social hub. The wide-open layout combines the clean, modern lines of high-end appliances and copper accents, with the warm notes of a reclaimed-wood island and floating shelves. The dark grey Quartzite counter, bright orange upholstered bench at the breakfast nook, new white oak hardwood floors, and punchy herringbone tile add plenty of visual interest.
The basement was fully gutted and excavated. The foundations were underpinned and structural support was added prior to pouring a new concrete slab, which greatly improved ceiling height. It was finished as a comfortable 2-bedroom legal suite, with new mechanical and electrical systems to service the whole modernized home.
