OUR Team

Maestro is inspired by the idea of our projects as symphonies, with the project manager as conductor, and our skilled tradespeople as the orchestra. With their innumerable hours of experience in their chosen specialties, our crew and sub-trades are integral to the successful execution of our projects.

Managing the countless details of our projects requires a deft touch and constant anticipation of what’s coming up next. Our conductors create a jobsite environment of collaboration, refinement and mastery for everyone to do their best work.

Principal - Josh Young

Josh is the founding principal and the conductor of Maestro Development. His background lies in project management in consulting engineering. When he bought his first home, his focus turned towards the building process and best practices in building science. In 2008 he became project manager to renovators and laneway house builders in Vancouver. In the following years he gained extensive experience and knowledge in all aspects of the construction process, from architects and designers, building officials, sub-trades and other contractors. He also received extensive technical training and management education. Maestro Development was born in 2011 with an initial emphasis on heritage house renovation and restoration, and soon after became certified as a licensed residential builder of new single family homes and laneway houses.

A proud resident of East Van, Josh spends his spare time chasing his two young sons with his partner, biking and skiing, gardening and barbecuing, building furniture and traveling.
